Fall at RISE is Fresh and Awesome!
RISE is cranking up their programming, and we’re so excited! All our fall offerings are free, and many include childcare, food, and books. Click through to the full event listings for details and registration when required.
Sun. Aug 13—Drag Bingo and More!
Bingo with the Little City Sisters at New Beginnings—all proceeds donated to RISE. Come out an have fun while driving positive change! This is an 18+ event.
Admission is $10 and includes 2 Bingo cards. More cards are only $1 each!
Sat. Aug 19—Family Fun Open House
Balloon animals, coloring sheets, face painting, snacks, and a door prize—RISE has it all! Bring your kids of any age to this fun event to learn about RISE and see what RISE has to offer for everyone in your family!
(Mostly) fourth Thursdays—Queer and Friends Crafts
Join friends of RISE for an inclusive, affirming, FUN evening working on the craft of your choice and/or playing games! Bring your UFOs or get started on something new. Bring games to share. Snacks to share are welcome as well. RISE will have water, coffee, tea, and seltzer. High schoolers and adults who come in the spirit of community and mutual respect are welcome—y’all are fabulous and we can’t wait to hang out with you!
Many Saturdays this fall—Dress-up Story Time
Dress-up story time is coming to RISE: Healthy for Life Sept 9, 16, 30; Oct. 21, 28; and Nov. 4, 11, 18!
Join RISE volunteers and staff for some great storybooks, songs, crafts, and snacks Saturday mornings this fall—and go home with the book we read!
Dress-up story time is perfect for kids about 2-6 years old. Older and younger siblings and friends are welcome as well. Adults must remain with the kids they bring.
Three Mondays—Identity Outlaw Series
Join facilitator Yanik Lazarov for Identity Outlaws series: “Gender 101,” “Queer Sex Safety,” and Navigating Trans-ness.” How do you navigate navigate all this gender stuff? What should we know about queer sex and safety? And why isn’t there a Transgender for Dummies how-to book? People are beautiful and complex and diverse and deserve answers!
Sat. Oct 21—How to be an Askable Adult
Do you struggle to know how to approach “the talk”? Do you wonder what is the right age to begin talking with your child about sex and sexuality? Are you worried about sharing information that is not age appropriate? We can help calm your anxiety and empower you to be your child’s primary sexuality educator.
Sat. Nov 11—Gender and Orientation: Changing the Narrative
Have you been struggling to navigate this new world of changing pronouns, new gender identities, and orientation? Or have you struggled to explain these things to family and friends? We’ve got you!!! Join us for a workshop, then “digest” what you’ve learned over a meal! Childcare and supper provided.
