Helping Survivors Navigate Their Trauma Response
Who is our worst critic? Yup--we are!
Cindi Huss and Jessie Birkeland, collaborating directors and certified trauma-informed care facilitators at RISE: Healthy for Life, will discuss how we can help survivors change the question, “What’s wrong with me?” to understanding that “Something happened to me and how I feel and behave are normal trauma responses—that can change when I am ready.”
Trauma-informed care training generally centers providers, and that is important. However, since trauma-informed care best practices emphasize empowering survivors, offering them choices, hearing their voices, and working with them as partners in their care, RISE proposes that it is equally important for survivors to understand their own trauma response.
This workshop is sponsored by Carter County Drug Prevention Coalition and is free and open to the publicm but preregistration is required.
