Inclusive Sexuality Education Lunch and Learn

How does inclusion relate to sexuality education? Let us count the ways!

Responsible, inclusive sexuality education intentionally recognizes and values all students. It is lifelong and involves a holistic approach that shares knowledge and helps students of all ages, orientations, colors, and identities build communication and relationship skills that will help them be healthy for life.

Abstinence-only programs promote only one type of identity and orientation, and traditional sex ed frequently incorporates racial and gender-based bias unintentionally.

Learn more at a Zoom Lunch and Learn on Thursday Sept. 17 at 1:30 p.m. eastern time, This is part of a series brought to you by the Tennessee Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence's Inclusivity Committee.

RISE’s lunch-and-learns are interactive, so come, learn, and engage with fellow participants and the facilitator!

At RISE: Healthy for Life we believe that an understanding of one’s own body, heart, and mind is a human right and that sex and sexuality are normal, natural parts of human life and loving.

Lunch-and-Learn participants will leave with a better understanding of:

  • What responsible, inclusive sexuality education (RISE) is—and isn’t.

  • Why RISE is important.

  • Where people can—and can’t—get RISE in Tennessee and why.
