Teens RISE meets twice a month.

Many people make decisions based on what their peers say and do. That's why peer educators are so important.

Peer educators communicate and connect with their peers in ways that adults can't. They are role models for change.

Peer educators learn about maturing bodies, consent, pregnancy and STI prevention, sexual orientation, gender identity, healthy and unhealthy relationships, media literacy, and local resources.

Peer educators raise awareness of social issues, provide accurate information, and help their classmates develop skills to change behavior.

Peer educators advocate for positive change with legislators, provide information at events, and collaborate on one or more public service projects.

If you are in 9-12 grade and interested in participating, please register for and attend our peer educator orientation on Sept. 25 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. We’ll have pizza, drinks, and snacks , and you will learn more about each other and the program. Orientation will take place at Sync.Space, 227 E Sullivan St. in Kingsport.

Guardians should plan to attend their own information session at 11-11:45 a.m. if possible. Guardians will receive information about the program and sign permission forms.

If you have questions or need more information, please contact Jessie at jessie@riseHFL.org.
