Sexual Development Webinar

The Sexual Assault Center in Nashville, a fellow member of the TN Coalition Inclusivity Committee, is hosting “Sexual Development: Behaviors, Identity, and Trauma Across Ages 0-18” on Wednesday, April 21 at 2 p.m. ET (1 p.m. CT). Registration is required.

About the Event

Research shows that equipping children and caregivers with evidenced-based information on sexual development can be preventative in protecting children from specific aspects of childhood sexual abuse. Join the Sexual Assault Center to learn more about sexual development!

This training will explore the dynamics of childhood sexual development from ages 0 – 18. participants will gain tangible tools for communicating sexual development changes to children. We will discuss how traumatic experiences can “flip the switch” and influence sexual development resulting in experiences and behaviors that are commonly misunderstood by professionals working with survivors of childhood sexual abuse.

Learning Objectives

  • Participants will learn about each stage of sexual development across the life span, through a lens of human development.

  • Participants will receive information on common and uncommon sexual behaviors during each life stage.

  • Participants will gain insight on discerning between concerning and problematic sexual behaviors.

  • Participants will be equipped with insight on how to incorporate conversations about consent, safety, and gender into everyday life.
