SAGE (sexuality and gender equality) Club at Lincoln Memorial University is sponsoring "Rising Voices: Affirming Care for LGBTQ+ Patients" on Saturday, Nov. 6 from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Eastern Time. Cindi Huss and Ann Livengood of RISE: Healthy for Life will facilitate this workshop.

The Rising Voices panels and workshops were developed by Collective Impact for Emotional and Sexual Health, A Step Ahead Tri-Cities, ETSU’s Women’s Resource Center and Robertson Pride Center, the TN Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence, and RISE: Healthy for Life.

Rising Voices is free and open to all interested individuals inside and outside the LMU community.

LMU students, faculty, and staff may choose to attend in person at LMU-DCOM, room 306 . All others will attend via Zoom.

This event is meant for medical and mental health staff and students, as well as other care professionals. The primary objectives of the workshop are for participants to:

  • Examine what they hear.

  • Identify community resources and allies.

  • Dvelop action steps to implement patient-focused improvements within practices and organizations in order to create more affirming/empowering healthcare experiences for all people.

This hybrid (masked in-person and via Zoom) workshop will begin with a viewing of the Rising Voices LGBTQ+ Panel at 11 a.m.. This panel is important for the workshop experience. If you cannot attend the 11 a.m. viewing, you can view the panel in advance.

In-person participants will enjoy a brief lunch, then all participants will take part in a workshop beginning at 1 p.m. that includes both large- and small-group work and individual reflection. Participants should have paper and pen available for taking notes and recording commitments to action.
