If you would like to be able to offer trauma-informed care workshops, join us for this 8-hour training to become a trauma-informed care workshop facilitator. Learn best practices, develop a deeper understanding of the topic, and, if you complete the training successfully, leave certified to train trainers by the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration.

Trauma is highly prevalent, can affect a person at any time during their lifespan, and may present as mental health, substance use, or physical health conditions.

Truama-informed care is a promising approach to building resilience and resisting retraumatization of survivors. It requires cultural sensitivity and self-reflection as well as compassion.

This training is offered by Julia M. Bernard, Ph.D., LMFT, CFLE. Julia is the owner of Bernard Family Solutions, LLC, a private practice in Jonesborough, TN, and interim chair of the Department of Counseling and Human Services at East Tennessee State University. She holds a Ph.D. in Family Studies from Purdue University, and is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Tennessee. She is a Clinical Fellow of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. She is a Leave No Trace Master Educator, and a Mental Health First Aid trainer. She is also the immediate past president of the Southeastern Council for Family Relations. She was the conference chair for the Southern Organization for Human Services 2018 conference in Johnson City. Her research centers on the association between the family of origin and human service providers, specifically, the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).

This program is funded in part by a grant from the Fund for Unitarian Universalist Social Responsibility.
